A hike in the woods.


With miles of trails within the area there is ample opportunity for hiking. You will find trails for everyone, whether you would like a more leisurely stroll, or want to get a serious workout with your hike. Many of the trails lead to scenic overlooks that are more than worth the hike to them. You will find trails on the Blue Ridge Parkway, the local parks and forest, as well as the Virginia Creeper Trail and the Appalachian Trail, which is the longest foot trail in North America.





A leisurely bike ride.


You will also find trails for biking in the area, with bike rentals available at most. Some of the places that include bike trails are the Virginia Creeper Trail, Grayson Highlands State Park, and New River Trail State Park.





A family on horseback.


If you prefer riding on horseback there are trails in the area. Some of the places that include horse trails are the Virgina Creeper Trail, New River Trail State Park, and Grayson Highlands State Park, which has stables and the Virginia Highlands Horse Trail.





Golf course with a view.


For those that like to spend a little time on the green, you will find two golf courses in the area, where you can not only enjoy a round of golf, but the beautiful views as well.
