As you ascend our marvelous walnut staircase, you enter the upstairs foyer, which provides a tastefully decorated and inviting sitting area. From here five individually and beautifully styled bedrooms await you. One at a time, we are currently recreating the Four Seasons theme that the lower rooms was decorated in originally when Garnett and Mattie Davis added the Victorian addition to his father's home, circa 1900. Wake to the smell of freshly brewed coffee, served just outside your door in the sitting area each morning. Then enjoy a full gourmet breakfast, complimentary for all of our guests, at the time of your choosing. Seasonally, guests can choose to breakfast on the Victorian wraparound porch, dining to the sound of songbirds and sights of hummingbirds, squirrels and deer and on Sunday mornings, Inn guests can opt to participate in Sunday Brunch for $9.95 per person.
We will happily prepare dinner for our Inn guests most evenings, regardless of whether or not the restaurant is open, as long as we know 24 hours in advance.

The Davis Room
Named for the Davis family, this room is located in the turret of the house. The original 1865 curved glass windows surrounding a queen-sized bed create an unsurpassed viewing spot for the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountain sunrise. The room features a private bath with a walk in shower, fireplace, and period furniture. The Davis room represents the Fall theme of the historic color palette with a rich caramel, soft pink, blue and green and butterscotch gold.

The Bourne Room
J. Simmerman Bourne, a local attorney, purchased this house in the 1930's and this room is named for two of his nine children, Mary and Pauline who lived here for 45 years. From this room you can observe the historic district of Independence and soak in the last rays of the sun as it sinks into the western ridges of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Authentically decorated in a rose, burgundy and blue color scheme representing Summer, the Bourne room offers a private bathroom with a walk in shower, queen-sized bed and a fireplace with a hand detailed mantle. Whether searching for romance or tranquility, you will find both here.

The Grayson Room
In 1975, the county of Grayson purchased this home and for many years it served as offices for local businesses coming to be known as The Bourne House. Warm and bright with afternoon sun, this room was probably the original master and the large bathroom is situated in the nursery. Decorated to represent Spring this room transports you to a bygone era. The Grayson Room features twin beds and the bathroom features a tub and shower. The view from the large windows overlooks our butterfly garden and the surrounding woods beyond. Accommodations can be made for a king-sized bed.

The Reeves Room
In 1997, Eddie and Mary Lucy Copenhaver purchased the house and a dream was brought to fruition as they restored the home to its original grandeur. The Reeves Room, named for Mary Lucy, is beautifully decorated with a Winter feel with colors of lilac and gold. The wrought iron queen size bed is situated in the bay window. The private bathroom features a period claw-foot bathtub with shower. The view from the room includes giant oak and walnut trees and our herb and edible flower garden. If you are looking for a quiet personal retreat and love luxuriating baths, your search will end most agreeably in the Reeves room."Amazing people, amazing views and amazing food. The Taylor Room
This room, located at the back of the inn, overlooks the rock out cropping and woods on the property and has easy access to the back deck sitting area.
The room has a cottage feel with sage green, blue and white. The Taylor room offers a queen size bed and has a private bath with shower. This is our dog-friendly room.
All rooms feature lush robes, personal sitting areas, wireless internet and satellite TV. Morning coffee and afternoon tea are served in the guest parlor.
Rates and Policies
Our room rates are $100.00 - $155.00* per night plus tax, double occupancy.Rates depend on on day of week, season, and event and holiday weekends.
Rate includes gourmet breakfast and afternoon tea.
Business Travelers, please ask for our corporate rate Monday - Thusday, single occupancy. Long term rates available upon request.
Check-in time is 3:00 p.m. or after.
Check-out time is 11:00 am.
We have a 14 day cancellation policy, 30 days for Events and Holidays, less $10.00.
Weather is not a reason for cancellation or shortening of stay. For severe weather situations that make travel dangerous, we will reschedule.
$20.00 fee for keys lost or not returned.
We are a smoke free establishment with designated smoking areas.
We have one room in which we accommodate dogs. Certain restrictions required. Sorry, no cats. Owner is allergic.
Well behaved children, 12 years or older, are welcome anytime. Younger, well supervised children are welcome when booking all rooms.
Roll away beds are available.
